Aetna heads betting for Coral Sprint Trophy with sponsor

| 06.10.2014

The sponsor of Saturday’s Coral Sprint Trophy has installed the Mick Easterby-trained Aetna as the 5-1 favourite for the 6f handicap on the Knavesmire. Three-year old Polybius is next best in the betting at 7-1, while Watchable is also single figures at 8-1 for the race.

“It looks to be another competitive renewal of the Coral Sprint Trophy and the betting reflects that. Mick Easterby trained horses are always popular winners at York and it is the veteran’s Aetna which heads the betting having been a course and distance winner already this season,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Elsewhere, Coral has cut Quick Jack’s odds into 6-1 from 8-1 for Saturday’s Betfred Cesarewitch, following today’s confirmations for the Newmarket showpiece. The Tony Martin trained stayer is the clear favourite, ahead of Nearly Caught, Ray Ward and Vent De Force, who are joint-second favourite at 12-1.

“Quick Jack is certainly a worthy favourite after his impressive victory at the Galway festival in July, and already, we’re starting to see significant support for Tony Martin’s charge ahead of Saturday’s showpiece,” added Coral’s Nicola McGeady.
