USA favourite to replace Qatar as World Cup host

| 23.09.2014

Leading bookmaker Coral is offering betting on where the 2022 World Cup will take place after increased speculation about whether Qatar will be stripped of the tournament. The firm make USA 7-4 shots to host the competition in eight years’ time, while England are in the betting at 25-1.

Coral can also report plenty of support for Qatar to NOT host the tournament which is currently available at 1-2, while in the reverse side of the betting, the country is 6-4 to keep the event.

“Punters have certainly been backing their opinions this week and the majority of the money that has come in has been for Qatar not to host the tournament which is the odds-on favourite,” said Coral’s John Hill.

“If it is taken away from Qatar, our betting suggests USA is the most likely to host the World Cup, just like they did in a very successful competition in 1994,” added Hill.

**Will Qatar host the 2022 World Cup?

1-2 Qatar to NOT host the 2022 World Cup, 6-4 Qatar to host the 2022 World Cup

**Where will the 2022 World Cup take place?

6-4 Qatar, 7-4 USA, 8 Australia, 10 Germany, South Korea, 14 Japan, 25 England. Others on request.
