Underdogs USA backed to cause Ryder Cup upset

| 23.09.2014

USA have been well backed ahead of the 40th Ryder Cup at Gleneagles which takes place later in the week. The visitors are available at 13-8 with bookmaker Coral, while the hosts Europe go into the competition as the 4-6 to make it a consecutive hat-trick of successes.

In the top points scorer markets, 4-1 shot Rory McIlroy has been popular to pick up the most points of the Europeans, while Rickie Fowler heads the American list at 5-1.

“The betting suggests Europe are warm favourites to win the Ryder Cup for the third consecutive tournament but we’ve seen plenty of interest in USA. Punters certainly think there is some value in backing the visitors who are underdogs to take the trophy back across the Atlantic with them,” said Coral’s John Hill.
