Rooney and Lukaku to net in anytime double at 7/2

| 21.09.2014

Coral are offering outstanding odds of 7/2 for Wayne Rooney and Romelu Lukaku both to net anytime, with the Manchester United captain set to take on Leicester City, while the Toffees striker will hope to wreak havoc against Crystal Palace.

Lukaku is gradually rediscovering the form he had last season when on loan at the Merseyside outfit. He netted his first goal of the campaign against West Brom on his Premier League outing, taking just two minutes to net at The Hawthorns. He was equally impressive as Everton beat Wolfsburg in their opening Europa League group game, linking up very well with Steven Naismith and compatriot Kevin Mirallas.

Opponents Palace have shipped eight goals in their previous four Premier League games and, compared to last term, look susceptible to conceding following the departure of Tony Pulis. Everton are going from strength to strength under Roberto Martinez, and one stand-out feature is the performance of full backs Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman, whose crosses can find Lukaku with ease.

Teammate Tim Howard has spoken recently of the striker’s ability: “He wants to be the best footballer in the world, he really does,” Howard said.

“That’s what he thinks of himself. He gets his head down and he works, and we push him. He’s electric, he’s alive, he celebrates goals in training, everything counts to him. Everything matters.

“That’s what you want to see. There are too many young kids that take it for granted. Romelu doesn’t. He cost a lot of money but he is not arrogant, he is hungry.”

Rooney, meanwhile, dispatched in United’s 4-0 mauling of QPR at Old Trafford last time out and, with Angel Di Maria plus Ander Herrera supplying him, the chances of him netting are highly likely. Currently United’s top scorer with two, he is displaying signs of why manager Louis van Gaal made him captain. The raft of new signings will only encourage Rooney to raise his game further, and he has consistently done that when faced with competition.
