Falcao can fire United to easy first season success

| 13.09.2014

Manchester United are 2/7 with Coral to notch their first win of the new Premier League season againt QPR at Old Trafford on Sunday (4pm KO, Live on Sky Sports 1) and look worth favourites to do just that in a game which is set to see their new signings unleashed.

The stats are certainly good as far as the Red Devils are concerned as they have won 10 and lost none of their 12 previous Premier League meetings with QPR, and Harry Redknapp’s men have not managed to keep a clean sheet against them since 1992.

That would suggest that United are bankers to emerge victorious, but with just two points from three games under new manager Louis Van Gaal they have made their worst start to a season since 2007-08.

However, this game will by the first time in which all off Van Gaal’s £155m summer signings will be available to play and for most United fans that means the season starts now.

Argentine signing Marcos Rojo and Dutch star Daley Blind are both expected to be in the staring XI, along with attacking winger/midfielder Angel De Maria.

All eyes though will undoubtedly be on Columbian goal machine Radamel Falcao if he gets the expected go-ahead to make his eagerly awaited debut upfront.

Falcao has an unbelievable strike rate and can be backed at 3/1 with Coral to make a dream start and net the opener, and 8/11 to score anytime.

I think the he 28-year-old will be chomping at the bit to get stuck into a poor QPR defence, and the 8/11 about him finding the net makes plenty of appeal.

Over 2.5 goals also looks a solid bet at 8/13, but better value could be over 3.5 at 13/8 as Van Gaal will be hoping for his new looks side to send out a big statement of intent and seal their first win of the season in style.

In the correct score market, I am going to suggest split stakes on United winning 4-0 or 5-0 at odds of 11/1 and 22/1 respectively.

Best bets:
Radamel Falcao anytime scorer – 8/11
Over 3.5 goals – 13/8
United to win 4-0 – 11/1
United to win 5-0 – 22/1
