Bookies predict record turnover on sensational racing weekend

| 12.09.2014

A competitive Ladbrokes St Leger, combined with the exciting new Irish Champions Weekend, and the Arc trials at Longchamp will see record levels of turnover for this weekend according to Coral.

“The creation of the new Irish Champions Weekend will clearly boost turnover but even more influential in stimulating betting activity is the sheer depth of star talent running over the next two days,” said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“With the Derby winner, Australia, starring in Ireland and the runner-up at Epsom, Kingston Hill, heading the betting in the St Leger that would in itself be enough to sell the weekend to racing fans but with Treve headlining at Longchamp on Sunday and the likes of Tapestry, Rizeena and Toronado supporting acts over the two days, this promises to be one of then best weekend’s of horse racing betting of the year”, added Clare

Tapestry is just heading favouritism at 2/1 in front of Rizeena at 9/4 in the Matron Stakes. Australia is a prohibitive price for the Irish Champion Stakes but his 6/1 price for the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe would shorten dramatically should he win and his connections then confirm the Longchamp Group 1 as his next target.
