Tottenham, who are 9/1 to be top London club this term, are believed to have already had a bid for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin rejected, but are now reportedly ready to offer Nacer Chadli as part of a potential cash-plus-player swap deal.

New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is apparently unwilling to give up on luring his former charge to White Hart Lane, and is prepared to offload Belgian World Cup winger Chadli, in an attempt to sweeten up the Saints.

Southampton coach Koeman has seen a raft of first team stars head for the exit since his arrival, but chairman Ralph Krueger recently insisted the exodus was over and that Spurs’ targets Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez would “not be sold”.

It is now expected to take an impressive offer to prise Schneiderlin away from the Saints, with the south coast club struggling to recruit replacements, meaning a player exchange could be key.

Chadli, 25, is not believed to be part of Pochettino’s plans, despite only arriving for a reported £7m fee last summer.

The Belgian international was part of Spurs’ spending spree last summer, but he has failed to make an impact in north London. Chadli, a former FC Twente attacker, netted 40 times in three seasons for the Dutch club, but only scored five times in 34 outings for Tottenham last term.

Chadli also made four appearances for his country at the World Cup, and has 23 caps in total, but it appears he could already be on his way out of White Hart Lane.

Southampton coach Koeman, meanwhile, is rumoured to have his eyes on another swap deal, with Inter Milan star Saphir Taider set to swap Serie A for St Mary’s, in exchange for fiery forward Dani Osvaldo.

Koeman recently revealed: “We are close to two or three deals. A lot can happen between now and the start of season.”

With Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster also tipped to join Southampton imminently, there could finally be good news on the horizon for Saints fans.

Manchester United’s teenage starlet Demetri Mitchell may also line up for the south coast club this season, as Koeman continues to rebuild.

A loan move for the youngster, aged just 17, could be on the cards, with the pacy left winger already impressing for the Red Devils’ youth teams.

Mitchell joined United in 2013, and was part of the England Under-17 squad that won the 2014 European Championship.
Tricky and talented, the winger can also play up front and could potentially act as an option from the bench for Koeman’s depleted Southampton side, who are 11/2 to be relegated.
