Ripon Preview: Cosmic Chatter weighted to go well

| 04.08.2014

Cosmic Chatter has been given a big chance by the handicapper and looks decent each-way value in the 6f feature sprint at Ripon today (3.30).

The David Barron trained gelding has not won since scoring twice as a juvenile back in 2012, but has run some solid races to be placed in some competitive handicaps.

They include an excellent third of 10 to Dutch Masterpiece in a class 2 contest at Newmarket off a mark of 99, and the four-year-old now gets into this lower grade class 3 affair off a career-low rating of 91.

That gives Cosmic Chatter every chance from a handicapping perspective, and the son of Paris House ran very well three starts back over course and distance when keeping on well to finish third to Colonel Mak.

Cosmic Chatter also ran better than his finishing position suggests last time out in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup at Hamilton when ninth of 13 to Blaine after encountering traffic problems, and with Graham Gibbons in the saddle a big run looks on the cards.

Dutch Breeze is in good form at present and looks the one they all have to beat in the 5f sprint (4.00).

The Tim Easterby trained colt took advantage of a good opportunity to open his account at this venue over 6f back in June, and has since run two solid races to be placed in handicap company.

In the last of those at York, the son of Dutch Art stayed on well to finish a 3/4 length third of 12 to Meadway, and finsihed in front of Lexington Abbey and Innocently who re-oppose today.

There is no reason why Dutch Breeze should not confirm the form, especially as he remains unexposed as a handicapper and open to further improvement.

In the 1m 4f contest that closes the card (5.00), Two B’s is a fascinating contender on handicap debut and is fancied to provide the Easterby team with a double on the card.
The gelding is a brother to winning stayer Bollin Judith and from a family that the yard know well.

The three-year-old has hinted at ability in three quick maiden runs over inadequate trips, and looks the type who could take off now upped significantly in trip off a lowly opening mark of just 62.
