York Preview: Tasady can score for the boys in blue

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Tasaday can take advantage of a drop in class to make a winning start on British soil in the 1m 2f Listed contest at York this evening (7.30).

The filly had some top class form to her name last year when trained in France by Andre Fabre, winning twice and finishing placed on two occasions in Group 1 company.

In those Group 1 runs, the daughter of Nayef ran a blinder to finish third to subsequent Arc winner Treve in the Prix Vermeille and then got beat just a nose by Dalkala in the Prix De L’Opera.

Tasady then joined the Godolphin-owned training outfit of Saeed Bin Suroor, and showed that she retained plenty of ability when winning in Meydan back in February.

This race represents a significant drop in grade for Tasaday, who is offically rated 5lb and upwards clear of her rivals, and with Kieren Fallon in the saddle the four-year-old make her class tell to get back on the winning trail.
In the 6f handciap (6.30), Majestic Dream is a fascinating contender now dropped back in trip.

The gelding is trained by canny local trainer Mick Easterby whose runners always have to be feared in this type of event.

The Sheriff Hutton handler is a master at getting his horses well-handicapped, and Majestic Dream is now just 1lb above his last winning mark having been campaigned over 7f and a mile this season.

The six-year-old has shown plenty of speed in all those runs, suggesting that a drop back to this evening’s 6f would suit.

The son of Exceed And Excel was only beaten a length over it when runner-up to Sunraider in a 6f handicap at Hamilton on quick ground last June and now meets that rival on 15lb better terms.

That makes Majestic Dream look dangerously well-weighted, and he could prove hard to catch if given an attacking ride from the front.

National Service has caught the eye on his last two starts and looks the answer to the 5f handicap that closes the card (8.30).

The Stuart Williams trained gelding has not progressed as expected since winning on debut at Kempton, but is still relatively lightly-raced and should be capable of winning races off his current mark of 70.

The three-year-old didn’t get the best of runs when finishing fourth to Royal Brave last time out at Sandown, and if building on that looks a big player.

Selections:
6.00: Joys of Spring
6.30: Majestic Dream (NB)
7.00: Kifaaya
7.30: Tasaday (NAP)
8.00: Anderiego
8.30: National Service
