Telescope 9-4 favourite for King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes

Telescope is the 9/4 favourite with Coral to beat eight high class opponents in Saturday’s King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes following this morning’s declaration stage.

With no notable withdrawals, Coral believes Saturday’s big race could be one of the biggest betting events of the Flat season so far.

“The King George this year is packed with quality as well as being hugely competitive which is a potent combination when it comes to stimulating betting on a major race”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“Telescope may well hang on to favouritism but it is not a certainty as Taghrooda is going to have plenty of support, Magician represents a yard that is very popular with punters when it comes to Group 1 races, and we have also seen plenty of shrewd money for Eagle Top in the last couple of days. With the likes of Flintshire, Mukhadram and Trading Leather also attractive each way alternatives we should see a good spread of money across most of the runners”, said Clare.

“British Racing fans have been treated to some fantastic highlights this summer with a cracking Guineas weekend, two brilliant winners of the Oaks and Derby, a vibrant Royal Ascot, a strong Coral-Eclipse and now a classy and competitive King George to look forward to on Saturday. There have been a few negative stories about racing in the papers over the last few days and weeks but that shouldn’t mask that fact that we have enjoyed, and are continuing to enjoy, a thrilling and thoroughly absorbing Flat season”, added Clare.
