Napoli to net Fellaini amid flurry of Premier League outgoings

Coral writers round up the latest rumours, with many more big names mooted to leave the Premier League this transfer window.

Manchester United outcast Marouane Fellaini is reported to be on the cusp of a move to Italy, with ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez apparently keen to add the versatile Belgian to his squad. The Neapolitan outfit finished third in Serie A last term, meaning they need to strengthen ahead of their European campaign, with Benitez 66/1 to lead them to Champions League success.

Fellaini is rumoured to be available for as little as £15m, following a disappointing season under former Red Devils boss David Moyes, but Napoli are said to prefer a loan deal.

The ex-Everton man cost United £27.5m last summer, and the Manchester club, 5/1 to win the Premier League, seem to be prepared to make a significant loss, as Louis van Gaal continues to reshape the side.

Fellani’s current clubmate Shinji Kagawa is also rumoured to be exiting Old Trafford. Van Gaal has already complained his squad is “not balanced” due to having “four number 10s”, and the Japanese playmaker has seen limited game time in his favoured position during his stint at United.

Kagawa has so far failed to deliver on the promise he had shown in the Bundesliga, where he was named Player of the Year in 2012, before the Red Devils snapped him up for a fee believed to be around £12m.

The technically gifted attacking midfielder also underwhelmed for the Blue Samurai during the World Cup, and could benefit from a move back to former club Borussia Dortmund, where he was a mainstay under Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea are also keen to trim their squad, with Blues boss Jose Mourinho concerned about the club’s foreign quota, after Didier Drogba re-joined the west London side.

This could lead to Czech stopper Petr Cech, who is apparently of interest to PSG, departing Stamford Bridge after ten seasons of excellent service. The wealthy Parisian’s could bid as much as £10m for the 32-year-old, who may face the prospect of losing his place to Thibaut Cortouis this term anyway, with the Belgium returning from three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid.

It is thought any transfer of Cech would be a last resort though, with Mourinho hoping to offload £50m flop Fernando Torres or midfielder John Obi Mikel first, but few appear interested in the duo.

Meanwhile, Chile World Cup star Gary Medel is edging closer to a departure from relegated Cardiff City, with Galatasaray and Italian giants Inter Milan vying for his signature.

Latest reports suggest Medel would prefer a switch to Serie A, but with Inter reportedly offering less than their Turkish rivals, Cardiff are yet to be convinced.
