Trainer Anne Duffield has her team in terrific form, and La Havrese can provide her with another winner in the 6f handicap at Carlisle this evening (7.10).

The filly has shaped with promise in three maiden runs, most notably on her second start over 7f at Beverley when weakening inside the last to finish a 7 3/4 length fourth of nine to Crowley’s Law.

The winner has gone on to score twice since and is now rated 98, the runner-up Adore has also won since and is rated 68, while the third home Raymouti has won twice and is now rated 75.

That is strong form in the contest of this class 5 handicap and makes La Havrese looks potentially very well-treated off an opening mark of 60.

The drop back to 6f also looks sure to suit, and with the hood fitted for the first time it would be no surprise to see La Havrese show her true colours now going handicapping off such a lowly rating.
Naoise looks capable of defying a career-high mark to make a winning debut for trainer Ollie Pears in the 1m handicap (8.10).

The gelding had been in top form in Ireland for Jim Bolger prior to joining Pears, winning handicap at Leopardstown before finishing a cracking second of 12 to Misty Lane at Gowran Park under the welter burden of 10st 2lb.

The six-year-old failed by only 1/2 a length to reel in the enterprisingly ridden winner in the latter, and although now 5lb higher that rise is offset by the claim of young jockey Jacon Butterfield.

That makes Naosie look on a workable mark in what doesn’t look the strongest of class 4 contests, especially with the fast ground and mile trip ideal and the majority of his rivals out of form.

In the 1m 1f handicap the closes the card (9.10), Lilly Junior can open her account now upped in trip and fitted with cheepieces for the first time.

The William Haggas trained filly shaped with pleny of promise in three maiden runs, most notably when a 5 1/2 length third to Belle D’or at Salisbury.

The winner has gone on to land a Listed contest at Sandown and is now rated 104, and that suggests that Lilly Junior’s current rating of 72 could seriously underestimate her ability.

Although the daughter of Cape Cross was beaten off it when a two length third to Global Leader on handicap debut over a mile at Yarmouth, she shaped as if the extra furlong this evening would suit and won’t have to improve much on that showing to land this three-runner affair.

7.10: La Havrese (NAP)
7.40: Potent Embrace
