Sponsor gives Derby hero Australia evens quote for Coral-Eclipse

| 08.06.2014

Following his impressive Investec Derby success yesterday, the sponsor of next month’s Coral-Eclipse is quoting Australia at evens for Sandown’s ten-furlong showpiece.  The Epsom hero is 6-1 second favourite with Coral for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, behind last year’s winner Treve at 7-2, while the colt’s trainer Aidan O’Brien is evs (from 5-4) second favourite to regain the Flat trainers’ title in the UK, with Richard Hannon the 10-11 favourite and the Investec Oaks-winning trainer John Gosden priced at 6-1.

“No decision has been made on Australia’s next likely target, but with connections making it clear ten furlongs and a quicker pace would suit their star, the Coral-Eclipse must surely come into the equation, and he’d be a warm order for the race if aimed at Sandown,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“Sea The Stars was the last Derby winner to follow up in the Eclipse, and having got his stallion career off to a Classic-winning start with Taghrooda in Friday’s Investec Oaks, we’d love to see Australia attempt to emulate him next month on route to his assured future place at Coolmore,” added Stevens.
