Sexy Legs appealing in Albany Stakes

Sexy Legs shaped with tons of promise when runner-up on debut and looks decent value to go one better in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot today (2.30).

The David Wachman trained filly was an expensive breeze-up purchase, and looked a smart prospect when going down by just a short-head to Jeannie Girl in a 13-runner 6f contest at the Curragh last month.

The daughter of Dutch Art was held-up and only ninth at halfway, but then cruised into contention two furlongs from home and looked all over the winner until getting chinned in the dying strides.

It was a hugely encouraging performance, and the way in which Sexy Legs travelled into the race suggested she had an huge engine.

The two-year-old is sure to come on significantly for the run, and granted normal improvement looks capable of running a huge race in a wide open contest.

The market is headed by Patience Alexander and Sunset Glow, and they look the obvious dangers to Sexy Legs.

The former is trained by David Evans, and after scoring by a wide margin on debut followed up in good style at York when beating Tiggy Wiggy by 1/2 a length in a Listed contest.

The runner-up finished an excellent second in the Queen Mary Stakes earlier in the week, and that form sets the standard for others to aim at.

Sunset Glow is trained in the USA by Wesley Ward, who does very well with his runners at the Royal meeting and has already tasted success this week with Hootenanny.

The daughter of Exchange Rate got off the mark at the second time of asking when showing blistering early pace and making all to win easily by two lengths at Belmont, and could take some pegging back if allowed her own way up front.
