Mexico, Spain, Chile come in at 11/2 for World Cup treble

The World Cup is upon us punters! And to celebrate the start of the greatest show on earth, Coral have a tasty treble on Mexico, holders Spain and Chile all winning their opening games.

Enhanced odds of 11/2 say the Iberian outfit and their former colonies will be victorious on June 13th. Spain face the Netherlands in a repeat of the 2010 World Cup final, while Mexico tackle Cameroon and Chile collide with tournament rank outsiders Australia.

Here’s why you should back this special treble.

Mexico v Cameroon
The Aztecs have triumphed in their only previous meeting with the Indomitable Lions. Miguel Herrera’s Latin Americans are 13/10 to beat Cameroon again. Both of these sides are likely to play second fiddle to tournament hosts and favourites Brazil in Group A, so victory here is essential.

Mexico midfielder Marco Fabian netted in both of their last two wins. He is 11/4 for a goal again anytime here. Herrera has picked a forward line packed full of proven players and talent. Javier Hernandez will want to shine for El Tri, and the Manchester United striker is a 6/1 shot to score first.

Spain v Netherlands
In South Africa four years ago, Spain needed extra time to defeat the Clockwork Orange. Vicente del Bosque’s boys will not be so cagey here, however, and that is reflected in the odds-on price of 4/5 for a victory. La Roja have recorded three clean sheets in a row, coming into the defence of their crown, so a 13/8 price on a win to nil is attractive.

The spotlight is on Spain striker Diego Costa in the country of his birth. However, three of La Roja’s last four goals have been scored by the old guard of Fernando Torres and David Villa. Chelsea frontman Torres is 5/1 to net the opener, while outgoing Atletico Madrid attacker Villa is 7/4 to be on target again anytime.

Chile v Australia
South American side Chile have never lost to the Socceroos, and are odds-on at 2/5 to keep their unbeaten run going with victory here. Jorge Sanpaoli’s team have only ever conceded one goal to Australia, so a win to nil is worth considering at 6/5.

Valencia loanee Eduardo Vargas has proven his worth to Chile in recent matches with three in the last two internationals. A purple patch before a major tournament is ominous news for Group B opponents. Vargas is even-money to make the Aussies his next victims, and better priced 4/1 in the first, or last, scorer markets.
