Cavani and Sturridge come in as 7/1 World Cup scoring double

Coral are offering sumptuously boosted odds of 7/1 on Edinson Cavani of Uruguay and England’s Daniel Sturridge both to score anytime, in their respective first matches at the World Cup.

Group D gets underway in Brazil with twice former winners La Celeste playing rank outsiders Costa Rica in an all-Americas clash. That is swiftly followed by the Three Lions resuming their rivalry with Italy.

Here’s why this is such a great bet.

PSG frontman Cavani is odds-on at 10/11 for a goal on his own, so that illustrates just how massively enhanced his price is for Coral’s scoring special. He has scored against six of the current top 10 nations, according to the current FIFA World Rankings.

It logically follows if Cavani can convert chances against such high-quality opposition as Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Italy, then he should have no difficulty in netting in his opener. The burden should fall on him for the Costa Rica game anyway, as strike partner Luis Suarez continues to recover from knee surgery.

Cavani complained at being played out of position on the wing for his club this season. Uruguay boss Oscar Tabarez will be using him as the spearhead in attack, so back the PSG player to stop whinging and score when deployed in his favourite role against such weak opposition.

England striker Sturridge, meanwhile, was the leading English marksman in the Premier League this term with 21 goals. Only Liverpool teammate Suarez scored more.

With a respectable record of four goals in 11 Three Lions caps, Sturridge is 7/4 on his own to net anytime, so again combining that with Cavani scoring results in massively enhanced odds.

He has two international goals in three appearances in 2014, so Sturridge is certainly in fine form ahead of England’s clash with Italy.

Coral will have more scoring doubles at enhanced odds throughout the World Cup finals, so keep checking our site.
