Leading bookmaker Coral was left with a £1 million payout on Thursday evening after one lucky telephone customer had all six winners on a Lucky 63 on the card at Sandown Park with the bookie.

The 40-year old man from Basingstoke, who wishes to remain anonymous, was waiting on Ishikawa in the 8.50pm race before the 5-2 favourite obliged by half-a-length to make it six from six with his £40 unit stake multiple.

Brown Panther, owned by former England striker Michael Owen, was also one of the customer’s selections as he scored in the Group Three Henry II Stakes, while odds-on shot Sharestan won the Brigadier Gerard Stakes by a nose to keep the accumulator part of the bet alive after the fourth leg.

The customer, who was at Sandown Park, came up to the Coral box after four horses had won already in an excited state. He returned after the final horse had crossed the line in front to ask Coral’s representative, Mark Elks, how much he’d won. When he was told it was one million pounds, he stood dumbstruck before saying “Can I give you a hug”. They then cracked open champagne in the box with his friends before the man and his entourage hit Esher High Street to continue their celebrations.

Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman said today, “it is an extraordinary achievement to go through the card like this and he deserves every penny of his million pound win. He is a really nice guy and has been a Coral customer for a few years now so if someone is going to win a million pounds off Coral I’m glad it’s him.”

A lucky 63 is a multiple which includes 63 bets: 6 singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, 6 five-folds and a six-fold accumulator.
