Punters pile into Pochettino for Spurs job
Mauricio Pochettino is the new evens favourite to be the next Tottenham manager with leading bookmaker Coral following the news that Tim Sherwood has been sacked. The Southampton boss was 2-1 earlier this morning but has been backed by punters to be appointed by Spurs.
Frank de Boer was as short as 10-11 earlier in the week after being linked with the position but he is now out to 11-4. Former Chelsea and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is third best in the betting at 9-2 with Coral, while David Moyes is available at 12-1.
“There has been a strong move for Mauricio Pochettino this afternoon and he has been by far the most popular selection amongst punters to replace Sherwood,” said Coral’s John Hill.
There has also been a gamble in the next West Brom manager market as Brian McDermott has been supported into 5-1(from 10-1), while Sherwood heads the betting at 6-4 to be Brighton’s next manager.
