Coral go crazy on England World Cup specials

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Following the announcement of Roy Hodgson’s squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil, Coral have opened a number of special markets on England.

Could this be the international swansong for influential Three Lions skipper Steven Gerrard and fellow centurion Frank Lampard? The former is an 11/10 chance to represent his country again, while the latter has longer odds of 10/3.

Both Gerrard and Lampard have served their country well, but they know a new breed is coming through – typified by the inclusions of Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson and Ross Barkley, ahead of Michael Carrick.

The Liverpool and Chelsea stars, who conventional wisdom claims could never play together, are both odds-on at 4/6 and 1/5 respectively to play their last game for England in Brazil.

Another interesting market for punters to consider is the total tournament goals scored by the Three Lions. Can the likes of Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge translate fine club form across to their country?

The 0-2 bracket is rated most likely to be England’s haul at the World Cup finals with Coral at 9/4, followed by 3-5 at 2/1. If punters are feeling patriotic, why not back the young team picked by Hodgson to hit nine or more at 5/1.

Another bet for lovers of the Three Lions is 10/1 on them winning all three group games in their pool. Drawn alongside fellow former global champions Italy and Uruguay, plus Costa Rica, the inclusions of exciting talents like Raheem Sterling, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Barkley could give Hodgson an exciting edge that other nations in Group D just don’t have.

Last and by no means least, how many points will England amass from their pool? The 3-4 bracket is favourite at 6/4, with a capitulation (0-2 picked up) a rank 5/1 outsider. Conversely 7-9 is also an attractive price at 10/3, and could be well worth combining with that other Coral special bet on the Three Lions winning all their games.
