Bath Preview: Ginzan weighted to go well

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Bath stage a competitive seven-race card today, and Ginzan looks value to capitalise on a fall in the weights in the 6f handicap (2.40).

Trained by Malcolm Saunders, the mare is a tough sort who has won five of her 27 races.

Three of those successes have come at this venue, including two over this afternoon’s trip of 6f.

The six-year-old’s last success came over course and distance last July, where she stayed on strongly to score by 1/2 a length off a mark of 75.

Gizan now gets into this off 3lb lower, and that gives the daughter of Desert Style every chance at the weights.

It’s also interesting that Ginzan usually takes a few runs to come to hand, having scored at the third time of asking in 2012 and on her her fourth run last year.

That augurs well for Ginzan’s chnaces this afternoon, as this is her fourth run of the campaign.

The booking of Robert Winston also catches the eye, and with conditions to suit everything looks in place for a big run from a decent looking draw in stall eight.

In the 1m handicap (3.40), Jersey Cream looks worth siding with having been given a chance by the handicapper.

The Gary Moore trained filly shaped with plenty of promise when placed on her first two runs as a juvenile, but subsequently failed to build on those efforts in nurseries.

However, having started life off in handicaps on a mark of 65, the daughter of Iffraaj is now running off just 58 and may well appreciate the step up in trip to a mile.

The three-year-old is potentially well-treated if recapturing the form she showed on her first two starts, and her shrewd handler looks to have found a weak looking class 6 contest in which Jersey Cream should be up to making her presence felt.

Armourer makes his handicap debut off what looks a potentially lenient mark in the 1m 2f contest (4.10).

The son of Azamour had just three runs as a juvenile, and posted a really solid effort on the second of those when third of 10 to Examiner over a mile at Lingfield.

The Bill Muir trained gelding finished 3/4 of a length in front of Old Town Boy who has subsequently won two handicaps off marks of 70 and 77, and a length in front of the fifth home Spectator who he now meets on the same terms.

Given that Spectator is favourite for this, that makes Armourer look decent value at the odds on offer for a handler that has a terrific strike rate of nearly 36% with his runners at the track in the past 12 months.

Selections:
2.10: Kibaar
2.40: Ginzan (NAP)
3.10: Dark Amber
3.40: Jersey Cream
4.10: Armourer (NB)
4.40: Royal Warranty
5.10: Miss Tiger Lily
