US Masters third-favourite Rory McIlroy (11/1) is the subject of a Coral special for new customers. If you sign up before 12pm GMT time on April 10th, you will be able to take advantage of a special 3/1 price (normal market odds of 4/5) on the Northern Irishman finishing in the top 10 of the competition.

The two-time Major Championship winner (2011 US Open and 2012 US PGA Championship), 24, is yet to finish first or even, surprisingly, in the top 10 at Augusta, but he is as determined as ever to make amends.

“I’d be disappointed if I ended my career and wasn’t able to go up and have breakfast in the champions’ locker room,” McIlroy said.

“The way I play golf, the way my game is, Augusta does set up well for me. And for me not to have a top-10 coming into my sixth Masters…

“Five players have won the career grand slam, I was looking at that the other day. I was looking at the ages; Tiger Woods was 24, Jack Nicklaus was 26. I think three people have done it in their 20s.

“There is no timescale, I have a lot of years left. I would love to do it. It’s something that would be a huge achievement, to put yourself on that list.”

McIlroy and punters of this bet will be boosted by the fact that world number one Tiger Woods is to miss this 78th US Masters edition.

The American 14-time Major champion, who has won four at Augusta, is suffering from a back problem, which gives the young Ulsterman the chance to do what he does best by stealing the show.

McIlroy is in good form ahead of the Masters, as he recorded a fantastic final round 65 at the Houston Open. He’ll be hoping to take that momentum with him.
