Green Flag heads betting for Coral Scottish Grand National

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Green Flag, one of three Lucinda Russell-trained runners in the race, heads the sponsor’s betting for Saturday’s Coral Scottish Grand National at 9-1, following the final declarations for the Ayr marathon. Mendip Express and Sam Winner are the 10-1 joint second favourites, with last year’s winner Godsmejudge and the well-backed Trustan Times, 25-1 at the start of the week, among those quoted at 12-1, ahead of top weight Tidal Bay, 14-1.

“Green Flag has been at the head of our betting since Monday’s entry stage, and his backers can take heart from the fact the 7-y-o is one of the minority in the handicap proper due to the presence of Tidal Bay, although that one’s stablemate Sam Winner and the well-touted Mendip Express are vying for favouritism, and Trustan Times has halved in price this week as backers look to last month’s Pertemps Final to provide a famous Grand National double,” said Coral’s David Stevens.

“Scotland’s biggest race is not only one of our flagship sponsored events, but a huge hit with punters, as last year it was the fourth biggest race by turnover in our 1800 shops, behind just the Aintree version, the Gold Cup and the Derby,” added Stevens.
