Sack race betting hots up ahead of the weekend

| 28.03.2014

David Moyes, Sam Allardyce and Tim Sherwood are just a few names facing the chopping board, and bookmaker Coral is quoting 3-1 that another Premier League manager is sacked before the weekend is over.

West Brom boss Pepe Mel is the 5-4 favourite to be sacked first, but Moyes’ odds on getting the boot continue to crash and the Manchester United boss is 7-2 to leave Old Trafford before the end of the season. Allardyce’s future at West Ham is also under threat, with the firm offering 10-1 that he doesn’t survive the season, while Arsene Wenger is 16-1.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are 1-3 to keep their lead at the head of the Premier League, with Liverpool 9-4 to take the top spot.

“Sack race betting has been rampant this season and with so many managers facing the chopping board, we’ve never taken so many bets before,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

“Sam Allardyce has been backed to be the next casualty but the odds suggest that he is safe for now. The weight of money has been in favour of David Moyes, as disgruntled fans continue to pile on the pressure,” added McGeady.
