Back Rodriguez and Benteke in great value scorer double

| 23.03.2014

With both players in action for teams coming off the back of two good wins, this is a duo that definitely could find the net at anytime on Sunday.

Jay Rodriguez is in great form, having scored against Norwich last weekend. The striker knows he needs to keep adding to his tally to reinforce his chances of being selected for England’s World Cup squad.

While Rickie Lambert keeps joining him in attack, he has a great chance. Lambert has demonstrated his eye for an assist in recent games, and has consistently proved to be the perfect foil for Rodriguez.

With 14 goals already this term, if he can hit the 20 mark surely that would guarantee him an England spot. Against a Spurs side with a point to prove it could be tricky, though the London club have shown to have chinks in their defensive armour.

Christian Benteke is Aston Villa’s top goal scorer having netted 10 times so far this season. Coming off the back of an impressive victory against Chelsea, with a performance to boot, they are expected to take the game to Stoke.

With Robert Huth unavailable for the Potters, and Marc Wilson deemed the most likely cover, Benteke has a chance to run riot against a player who is more at home further up the pitch.

It has been Villa’s more creative players that have impressed of late with Marc Albrighton, and Fabian Delph in particular impressive against Chelsea.

If the Belgian is to contribute to his season’s total, similar performances should be expected from the midfield, though he has proved on many occasions that he only requires half a chance.

The striker has been patchy this term, however his quality can’t be ignored, and it will only take one mistake from Stoke to let him in.
