Moyes making moves for Shaw and Griezmann in summer shake-up

| 07.03.2014

Southampton’s 18-year-old Luke Shaw could quadruple his current contract to around £75k per week if he were to move to Manchester United (10/1 to finish in the top four) this summer, according to reports.

Tabloid papers suggest that the left back is likely to be on the receiving end of a £30m bid from the Premier League champions – who have seemingly moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign him. Current United player Patrice Evra, 32, could leave this summer as he is out of his contract.

Shaw, a Blues fan, recently won his first cap for England in the 1-0 friendly victory over Denmark at Wembley – replacing his hero Ashley Cole at half time – and has earned rave reviews from across the country for his mature and consistent performances.

Southampton are currently in ninth place in the league, following a strong start to the season, and are heavily odds-on at 1/20 to finish the campaign in the top 10.

Another recent international debutant, meanwhile, is also on David Moyes’ summer radar, in the form of Real Sociedad goal-scoring winger Antoine Griezmann.

The 22-year-old has also been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, but the United boss was in attendance to watch the French star start in his country’s 2-0 defeat of the Netherlands, and will hope to tempt the player away with a big-money move.

Moyes has seen his transfer target close-up before earlier this season, as his side played the Spanish club twice in the Champions League group stages.

Griezmann has notched up 15 goals in 24 La Liga games this season so far, and could provide some extra fire-power and attacking threat that the Red Devils have somewhat missed since Moyes took over.

There is some bad transfer news for the Scot, however, as former United youth player Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal – both of Juventus – are currently in talks with La Liga favourites (10/11) Real Madrid, according to Italian reports. They were both targets in January.
