Where Is The Money Going: Vendor backed to supply Festival profit

Wind operations can sometimes work wonders with horses and it certainly appears to have had a positive impact on Vendor this season.

After winning at Newbury, he was one of a few that ran on from the rear in the Betfair Hurdle last time over an inadequate trip and back up to 2m5f, the grey has to have each-way claims in the Coral Cup.

Numerous punters clearly think so too as Vendor is one of the best backed horses on day two of the Cheltenham Festival, shortening into 12/1 in the Coral Cup betting.

Despite doubts about the speed of his jumping and the calibre of opposition he has beaten in Ireland, Faugheen has also remained heavily supported for the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle.

Faugheen is just 5/4 to ensure that Willie Mullins lands the opener on successive Festival days and Ted Walsh highlighted him as his best bet of the day on The Morning Line.

Le Bec is the horse being fancied for the RSA Chase at 12/1 and he has won over course and distance this season, while he will also appreciate the firmer ground.

In the day’s highlight, it is Captain Conan being supported, although his price remains solid at 5/1. This is a top industry price with Coral and so it may pay to snap this up quickly.

Nicky Henderson has also trained the Champion Chase winner in each of the last two seasons and Captain Conan did beat the favourite Sire De Grugy over course and distance last year.

Elsewhere, Dawalan has been backed from 8/1 into 6/1 for the Fred Winter and there is the feeling that he has snuck in on a favourable handicap mark, especially when considering his form against Triumph Hurdle favourite Calipto.
