The World Hurdle has largely been billed as a two-horse race; a battle of the sexes; the champion against the latest new kid on the block.

However, based on the World Hurdle betting, the result is a forgone conclusion, with Annie Power continuing to be backed from 6/4 into 5/4 to win on her first career start over 3m.

Willie Mullins’ best-backed horses of the first two days of the Festival – Quevega and Faugheen – have both obliged with victories and so it is hard to anticipate lightning not striking for a third time.

The Ryanair Chase is the co-main event on day three the Cheltenham Festival and all of the money for this is going on Dynaste.

His second in the Betfair Chase earlier in the season is undoubtedly the best piece of form on offer here and he has shortened from 4/1 into 7/2.

Much will depend on whether he has the required speed to win over this 2m 5f trip or whether connections were better running him in the Cheltenham Gold Cup instead?

The handicaps are a bit of a minefield, but the two horses seeing support are Third Intention in the Byrne Group Plate and Josies Orders in the Pertemps Final.

Third Intention is not the easiest horse to win with, but he has finished in the first three in his last six starts against good-quality opposition, which suggests he is solid each-way material.

In the most recent of these, he was only beaten seven lengths by O’Faolains Boy too, who has already won the RSA Chase at the Festival.

Third Intention is now 10/1 from 14/1 as he drops back into handicap company and first-time headgear could additionally be to his advantage.

As for Josies Orders, he has halved in price from 20/1 to 10/1 for the Pertemps having snuck in towards the bottom of the weights for the JP McManus and Jonjo O’Neill team.

He has been hiked 29lb this season for winning three races, but further improvement did seem likely when landing a qualifier for this at Huntingdon last time.
