Coral offer special Sherwood sack odds after Spurs’ shaky form

Coral are offering special odds of 6/1 for Spurs manager Tim Sherwood to still be in charge of the club at the start of next season.

His heavy odds-on price of 1/12 to no longer be in the dugout, however, does not look promising for the Englishman, who was chosen by chairman Daniel Levy to replace Andre Villas-Boas. With his sacking looking a certainty before the beginning of next term, this could be a chance to make easy money.

Following Spurs’ three consecutive defeats away to Chelsea (4-0), then at home to Benfica in the Europa League and the north London derby with Arsenal, Sherwood’s future at the club does not look promising.

Tottenham are now well off the pace for a Champions League spot – seven points behind Manchester City in fourth, who have three games in hand – and have odds now of just 10/1 to achieve that feat with eight matches to go.

Sherwood’s side are also staring at a likely exit from the Europa League after their shock 3-1 last 16 first leg home loss. They are now priced at 40/1 to win the competition.

In the league, besides an away tip to Liverpool on March 30th, Spurs face a very easy end of season run-in. If Sherwood is to have any chance of finishing in the top four, he will have to win them all, but even that may not be enough to get his side up there and save his job.

Following the 1-0 loss to Arsenal, the Tottenham boss said: “The building process has to start in pre-season. Liverpool took a step back to move forwards. It requires patience.

“Whether Spurs want to do that I don’t know. Whether they want me to be the person to do it remains to be seen.”

Sherwood has certainly not lacked passion, following his clash with Benfica boss Jorge Jesus and gilet-throwing reaction at White Hart Lane in the game with the Gunners. But he looks a little out of his depth, and Levy may want to go for experience in his next managerial choice.
