The Big Question: Has Geraghty got dream spare in World Hurdle?
Tony McCoy has already made the wrong choice of JP McManus horses once in headline races at the Cheltenham Festival and lightning could well strike twice in the World Hurdle.
McCoy could only finish second on board My Tent Or Yours in the Champion Hurdle, while Barry Geraghty stepped in for a dream spare ride on Jezki to win the race for the second time, following Punjabi’s victory in 2009.
And it is Geraghty that has picked up another potentially lucrative spare ride, having been named as the jockey for More Of That in the World Hurdle.
Again McCoy was placed in the position of picking between two McManus runners and he has opted to partner At Fishers Cross, with this pairing successful in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle 12 months ago.
It is a bold choice by McCoy though, bearing in mind that At Fishers Cross is winless in all three starts this season, although he did put up his best performance of the campaign when second in the Cleeve Hurdle last time.
Meanwhile, More Of That has never tasted defeat in his four career starts, also has course-winning form after landing the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham last time and has a higher official rating than At Fishers Cross.
The big question marks surrounding More Of That are that he has never previously run at Grade One level and he is unproven over 3m.
If the World Hurdle betting is anything to go by, then McCoy may have got it wrong again, with More Of That priced at 7/1 and At Fishers Cross 8/1.
