Spurs defeat costs two unlucky punters £372,000 payouts each

| 23.02.2014

Two betting shop customers, one from Glasgow, the other from Lye, West Midlands, each missed out on a £372,841 payout for just a £1 bet on Coral’s Football Jackpot thanks to Spurs failure to beat Norwich this afternoon.

Both customers had correctly predicted the outcome of the first fourteen of the fifteen matches on the Football Jackpot coupon and were the last remaining customers in line to share the £772,683 pool. Both customers had selected Spurs and were just 90 minutes away from winning £372,841 each when the game kicked off just after 4pm.

Unfortunately Spurs were unable to beat Norwich missing a host of decent chances in the process. The two ‘near-miss’ customers will share the consolation pool, with one other customer, for missing out by one on the Football Jackpot and will get £5,999 each.

“You have to feel desperately sorry for these two punters who came so close to winning life-changing sums of money today. It must have been the most incredible, and ultimately agonising, rollercoaster ride today for both of them as the Liverpool and Newcastle wins were incredible nail-biters, and they then watched Spurs spurn loads of chances on route to costing them the monster payout,” said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“Both customers will receive just shy of six grand as a consolation for missing out by one on the Football Jackpot, but it will be scant consolation indeed,” added Clare.

“Given how close they have come, and the dramatic nature of their near-miss, we will offer both customers a VIP trip to a Coral horse race sponsorship. The Glasgow based customer will get a VIP invitation to the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr on 13th April, and the customer from Lye, West Midlands will get a VIP invitation to Coral Cup day on 12th March at the Cheltenham Festival,” concluded Clare.

The Coral Football Jackpot will now rollover to next weekend with an anticipated pool of between £900,000 and £1,000,000 up for grabs.

All customers have to do is correctly predict the outcome of the fifteen football matches on the Football jackpot coupon for a £1 stake, to win a share of the huge Football Jackpot pool. There are also consolation payouts to customers who miss out by one, and who miss out by two, on the Football Jackpot.
