Man City almost double the price, but better bet than Arsenal to qualify

Bayern Munich’s 2-0 success at the Emirates means that they have equalled the all-time record for the most successful away wins in the Champions League, matching the seven triumphs of Ajax from mid 1990s.

What it has also done is left Arsenal needing to repeat last season’s 2-0 victory at the Allianz Arena to take their round-of-16 Champions League meeting to extra time. However, this is the only instance in Bayern’s last 76 home games that they have lost by a two-goal margin.

Still, Arsenal have last year’s memories to spur them on and can be backed at 12/1 to progress to the quarter finals.

However, if one Premier League team is going to turn around their first-leg deficit, few could argue that Manchester City are not a more attractive price at 20/1 to battle back from 2-0 down at Barcelona.

In all likelihood, Man City or Arsenal will need to score at least three times on the road if they want to qualify and Manuel Pellegrini’s men do have the greater weapons in their armoury to achieve this feat.

They put three past Bayern and Viktoria Plzen on the road in the Champions League group stages and have also achieved this feat five times domestically in the Premier League.

Throw in that leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero is expected to be fit for the visit to the Nou Camp and this will allow them to pose a greater attacking threat.

Aguero has scored at least once in his last eight Man City appearances and in 16 of his last 18. In these 18 fixtures, the Argentine has scored a total of 22 times.

Furthermore, Bayern have conceded virtually half of the goals that Barcelona have domestically this season, which suggests that Arsenal have the tougher ask netting away goals.
