Man City given two per cent chance of Barcelona turnaround

According to Infostrada Sports, teams starting with a 2-0 away win in a two-legged tie in European competition are 98 per cent likely to qualify for the next round of the competition.

This goes to show the size of the task, if it wasn’t already obvious, that Manchester City face if they are to reach the Champions League quarter finals at the expense of Barcelona.

However, those fancying Manuel Pellegrini’s men to turn the tie around and become the first team in the Champions League era to come back from 2-0 down, should be placing their bets with Coral.

Coral are offering the best industry price of 20/1 that Man City qualify for the quarter finals and some good news is that they have won by two goals in three of their last four away games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, a daring counter-attacking display also gave Valencia a 3-2 victory at the Nou Camp earlier in February, which highlighted that away teams can score against Barcelona if getting things tactically right.

Although Man City progressing to the last eight is hugely unlikely, based on the last two decades of Champions League knockout stage results, it is far more plausible that they restore some price with a Nou Camp victory.

Coral are again offering the top price on this eventuality, with Man City 6/1 to win away to Barcelona.

Arsenal last season against Bayern Munich are the most recent examples of a team losing the home fixture of a two-legged tie and then winning the return.

As for Barcelona, they are 1/2 to do the double over Man City with another victory at the Nou Camp and a top industry price of 1/33 to reach the quarter finals.

Alternatively, the Catalan giants have shortened from 5/1 to 10/3 to win the Champions League after their 2-0 Etihad success.
