Rampant Reds should batter floundering Fulham

Liverpool’s world-class forward Luis Suarez has netted four in as many games against bottom club Fulham. He has averaged a goal every 78 minutes in the league this season, and having not netted in the last two fixtures, he is due a couple here.

The Uruguayan has scored twice or more eight times now this season, so back him at 3/1 to bag a brace or higher again. Suarez has been known as a selfish player in the past, but his eight assists this season have been vital.

Rene Meulensteen’s Fulham go into the game on the back of a confidence-boosting draw at Old Trafford, but they now find themselves up against a club in superb goal-scoring form with 17 in their last five league matches.

With Fulham having the worst Premier League home record this season, losing eight times in 12 matches, as well as conceding the most amount of goals in all games (55), the stats don’t bode well for them, especially as Liverpool are undefeated in their last six.

Suarez (23 goals) and Daniel Sturridge (15) are first and joint-second in the Premier League goal-scoring charts respectively, so it seems that Fulham could be in for a big hiding. Odds of 16/1 say the Reds can inflict the same scoreline (4-0) as the reverse fixture in November.

Liverpool have also, incredibly, managed to score four goals or higher in eight league games this season, so back them at 17/5 to bag over 3.5 in this match-up.

Fulham, on the other hand, are lacking fire-power following the departures of Dimitar Berbatov and the inconsistent Adel Taarabt.

However, Darren Bent has a solid record against Brendan Rodgers’ side, having scored five times in 13 games. His most famous goal against Liverpool is perhaps the ‘beachball’ incident when playing for Sunderland, but the most crucial fact is that whenever he has scored against the Reds, his side have never lost.

New Cottagers signing Kostas Mitroglou, who was compared to Eric Cantona by former Olympiakos teammate Roy Carroll, is still not ready for action, so his debut is still on hold. Centre back Fernando Amorebieta is also sidelined.

Steve Sidwell is enjoying his time this season at Craven Cottage, however, having netted six times in the league so far – his best tally in the top-flight. Odds of 5/1 say he will score at anytime.

Liverpool still have a few faces on the sidelines, with the likes of Jose Enrique, Mamadou Sakho and Lucas Leiva all out injured, but Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson are in line for a squad return.
