Expect Liverpool to come out firing with early goals against Swansea

Liverpool have scored an impressive 43 first-half goals in the league this season, including four in the first 20 minutes against Arsenal in their previous home game. These have allowed them to dominate games from early stages.

Only two other sides (Manchester City 30 and Chelsea 23) have scored more than 20 with Swansea having managed just seven. Flying out of the traps has allowed the Reds to be leading at half-time in 17 of their 26 Premier League matches.

With this in mind then, bets you may want to consider are Liverpool to win the first half 8/13, Liverpool/Liverpool in the half-time/full-time market at 8/11, and first half Liverpool total goals 1 at 6/4 or 2+ at 19/10.

Daniel Sturridge became the first Reds player to score in seven successive Premier League games after netting in the 3-2 victory over Fulham. He is 8/11 to extend that record to eight and can be backed at 3/1 to net the opener.

Strike partner Luis Suarez has been quiet of late, with just one goal in his last seven appearances. The Uruguayan is 11/4 to score first here and odds-on at 8/13 to score anytime.

With Michu missing a large portion of the season through injury, the Swans have lacked goals and scored just nine times on their travels in the league so far.

Summer signing Wilfried Bony is their leading marksman with eight top-flight goals so far, although all of these have come at the Liberty stadium. He is 11/4 to score his first league goal on English soil and 8/1 to net the game’s first.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey had a major say when the teams drew 2-2 in the reverse fixture back in September. He opened the scoring after just two minutes before making two mistakes to gift his old club a 2-1 lead.

Shelvey did, however, make up for those errors by setting up Michu to equalise. The England cap is 7/2 to score on his return to Anfield.

A large factor of Liverpool’s success this season is due to their home form, with Chelsea the only side to record more points than them in the league.

They are starting to make Anfield a fortress again and have picked up 11 wins from 13 matches so far, and are 2/7 to make it a dozen home victories here.

Swansea have managed just three wins on the roads, which have come at bottom-six sides Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Brom. Two of those were way back in September and, since the Fulham win, Garry Monk’s men have picked up just three points from seven games. They are priced at 10/1 for the win, whilst a draw is 4/1.
