Emirates favourite venue for Froch v Groves rematch

| 13.02.2014
SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Bookmaker Coral has opened betting on the venue, making the Emirates Stadium the 2-1 favourite, ahead of Old Trafford and Wembley Stadium at 3-1 and 4-1 respectively, while the Etihad Stadium is 5-1, despite One Direction having a concert at that venue on the night.

The bookmaker are offering top price at 2-1 about George Groves becoming the new IBF super-middleweight champion, while Carl Froch is the 4-11 favourite. The firm is also quoting odds of 10-1 that Groves repeats their last meeting and knocks down Froch in the first round, while it’s 1-2 that it ends with a stoppage. Alternatively, it is 6-4 that points are needed to settle the fight.

“Carl Froch is hoping to box at the City Ground, while George Groves would love to fight at Stamford Bridge. However, the odds suggest that a more neutral venue will be picked, with the Emirates looking like the most likely destination for the bitter battle,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.
