Coral taking jumbo risk with Sturridge and Van Persie price boost

| 12.02.2014

Given that Robin van Persie and Daniel Sturridge have both scored in every match that they have played in so far in 2014, Coral appear to be taking a big risk in offering enhanced odds that the pair are on target again in the next round of Premier League fixtures.

With Sturridge sure to start for Liverpool at Fulham and Van Persie returning to the Emirates with Manchester United, it is 9/2 that both score in their respective 90 minutes.

Van Persie has scored three in three since returning to David Moyes line-up after a thigh injury and this increases his record to seven goals and two assists in his last eight Premier League appearances.

Furthermore, he has scored in all of the last five meetings between Arsenal and Man Utd, with the first two of these occurring when plying his trade in London.

The latest was in the 1-0 Man Utd victory at Old Trafford in November, but much will depend here on a greater link up with fellow striker Wayne Rooney, given the pairing only passed to each other six times in the whole match in the 2-2 draw with Fulham.

The other bad news comes with the news that Everton are the only top-10 team to have scored an away goal at the Emirates this season, while the Gunners have kept six consecutive home clean sheets in all competitions.

As for Sturridge, his record eclipses that of Van Persie, with the England striker scoring seven goals in six games in 2014 and next he travels to a Fulham team with by far the worst defensive record in the top-flight this season.

Fulham have conceded 55 goals in 25 games and let in two or more in all six home fixtures with top-half opposition.

Sturridge also netted a hat-trick at Craven Cottage last season and has scored more away goals since joining Liverpool than he has at Anfield.

Aside from the price-boost double, Sturridge’s odds are 1/1 to score in the 90 minutes at Fulham, 5/1 to help himself to two or more and 20/1 to net another Craven Cottage treble.
