Bony making a habit of scoring last ahead of visit to Liverpool

Wilfried Bony certainly can’t be disappointed with the way that 2014 has started, given that he has scored seven goals in 10 Swansea appearances in the year so far.

However, should he fail to score at Anfield next, he will be embarking on his longest barren streak since December, of three games.

Considering Liverpool have only kept two clean sheets in their last seven Premier League home games, Bony’s prospects of a goal are further enhanced, but punters shouldn’t be rushing to take the 11/4 that he scores in the 90 minutes.

Instead, a more profitable bet has to be the 8/1 that Bony scores the last goal of the game at Anfield.

In the last five fixtures in which the Ivory Coast international has been on target, he has rounded off the scoring.

The fact that Bony has scored against Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham this season shows he is capable of performing against the big teams, but Swansea would really benefit if he could do more than simply net consolation goals.

However, based on the match betting for the Anfield encounter, this is exactly what it may turn out to be, with Swansea priced at 10/1 to beat Liverpool and the hosts big favourites at 2/7.

One of the keys for Liverpool has been their strong first-half form, with Aston Villa the only visitors to score in the opening 45 minutes in the last 10 at Anfield.

This is another reason why if Bony is to be on target, then it may be late in the game.

Those fancying a Liverpool victory may also wish to consider the more lucrative price of 8/11 that they are ahead at both half time and full time.

In Liverpool’s 13 home Premier League games, this bet would have landed 11 times, which is a record that no team in Europe’s top five leagues can better.
