Coral offering best odds on Man Utd beating bottom-club Cardiff

| 28.01.2014

The majority of eyes will be on Juan Mata’s debut when Manchester United host Cardiff in the next round of Premier League fixtures and Coral are offering the top price on the Spaniard scoring first, last or at any time in the 90 minutes in the fixture.

Read here for a breakdown on why Mata should be backed to score against Cardiff.

However, the fixture is not all about Mata, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returning to Old Trafford for the first time as an opposing manager.

One of Solskjaer’s most famous moments at Man Utd was his knee slide against Bayern Munich after scoring the injury-time winner in the 1999 Champions League final and there must be a possibility that he will repeat the move if Cardiff win at Old Trafford.

Cardiff are priced at 12/1 to beat Man Utd and given that the Red Devils have lost four of their last six fixtures, with two of these coming at Old Trafford, this has to be deemed a big price.

Meanwhile, Cardiff are one of only two bottom-half teams to have taken points off of Man Utd this season and it is 14/5 that they do so again in the double chance market. Alternatively, the draw can be backed at 9/2.

Coral are offering the top industry odds on a Man Utd victory at 2/7 and although this may not seem the most attractive price for a team largely out of form, it is much bigger than would typically be expected when the Red Devils are hosting the team bottom of the Premier League standings.

Their chances will certainly be boosted if Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are passed fit and both have reportedly taken part in training ahead of this clash, alongside Marouane Fellaini.

If they play some part, Man Utd will be close to full strength and there is some appeal in the 7/10 that they are ahead at both half time and full time.

But given the likelihood that neither will likely play for any more than an hour, it could be best to oppose their prices to score at any time, with Van Persie 8/11 in this market and Rooney 4/5.

For those wanting to back a scorer, former Man Utd youngster may be the best bet from within the Cardiff ranks.

Campbell has not only scored in three of his last four Cardiff appearances, but has netted in all three of his meetings with Manchester opposition this campaign.

It is 7/2 that Campbell scores against his former club.
