Andre Villas-Boas’ reflections of his time in England in the past tense suggest that his next managerial post will not be in the Premier League, but where he does end up next is not so clear cut.

It is 20/1 that AVB takes a third managerial job in succession in England next, but the comment that his time in England was a “great experience”, intimates that this is not a price worth taking.

Instead, it is a move to Serie A that is deemed the most likely next step for Villas-Boas, with 10/11 on offer that he heads to Italy.

Speculation suggesting that Villas-Boas is among the leading contenders to replace Max Allegri at AC Milan is the chief reason for this price, with the Italian giants nearer the relegation places than the top six in terms of points at present.

Ahead of AC Milan’s game with Atalanta, Allegri confirmed that he will be leaving the club in the summer and there will be no shortage of candidates to take over.

Clarence Seedorf is one name that is bound to crop up as he is closing in on retirement and spent a decade at Milan before his move to current club Botafogo.

Former Tottenham managers have made a habit of dispersing around Europe as their next managerial project, but none have made it to Italy.

Christian Gross joined Basel in Switzerland, Jacques Santini went to France to manage Auxerre, Martin Jol took on the challenge at Hamburg in Germany, Juande Ramos somehow got the job at Real Madrid and Harry Redknapp stayed in England with QPR.

Villas-Boas has tasted all his success in Portugal to date, going the whole season unbeaten when leading Porto to league honours, with this part of a treble that also included the Portuguese Cup and the Europa League.

It is 11/8 that AVB returns to manage in Portugal next.

Elsewhere, 16/1 is the price that Villas-Boas manages in France next, where he was heavily linked with the PSG job in the summer before Laurent Blanc was appointed.

Lyon are not having the most productive of seasons in mid-table and should this not improve, Remi Garde may be under more pressure.

Jens Keller may have been given assurances by Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt, but it would be no surprise if the German club were on the lookout for a new manager next season.

Therefore, punters looking for a little bit of value could do worse than take the 25/1 that Villas-Boas ends up managing in Germany next.
