Valencia to gain Europa revenge against Swansea at the Liberty

| 28.11.2013

Valencia are in woeful form in La Liga but they raise their game for the Europa League and they can take all three points against Swansea at a generous 23/10.

Miroslav Djukic’s side have won their last three European encounters in a comfortable manner, scoring eight goals and conceding just one in the process.

Valencia have lost five of their eight games against teams in the top half of La Liga this season and probably don’t have enough confidence against the big sides.

They were 3-0 down to Barcelona within 42 minutes in September, and although they got it back to 3-2 via a Helder Postiga brace, their start to the match was fatal.

Bet on Valencia to win at 23/10

However Swansea are no Barcelona and they were fortunate to beat Fulham at the weekend – a result which saw them finally break a five-match winless run.

Valencia have conceded first in four of their last six games in Spain and an early vulnerability was evident in the first match between these sides at the Mestalla Stadium.

Wilfried Bony scored in the 14th minute and started a Swansea 3-0 victory rolling, although it is worth remembering that Adil Rami was sent-off for the hosts in the 10th minute.

Bony has been in good form of late and the 10-goal striker has three in his last three games; he also helped force an own-goal at Fulham at the weekend. He is 5/1 to score first.

With these two teams both retaining the ball well, the first goal will be crucial.

Given the Spaniards record when they have conceded the first goal – they have only taken one point from a losing position this season – they need to start the match strongly and quieten the vocal home crowd.

Bet on Wilfried Bony to score first at 5/1

That is something they have done in Europe.

Djukic’s side have scored first in their three Europa League games since their opening match with Swansea.

Their goals have been evenly-spread across the team and they don’t rely on a couple of players perhaps as much as Swansea do.

Michu has been a big loss for Swansea but they have coped well going forward, scoring six goals in their three matches without him.

It’s worth noting, however, that they have also conceded five in that period.

Interestingly Valencia have scored in each of their 14 La Liga matches this season and both teams are 8/11 to score.

Bet on Valencia to win to nil at 9/2

However the visitors have a strong record when scoring first.

In four of the last six matches where they have scored first, Djukic’s side have gone on to win without conceding; they are 9/2 to win to nil this evening.

Group A is not a foregone conclusion at present.

Kuban host Gallen in this round of fixtures and a win for either team would see them put Swansea’s qualification under threat were the Swans to lose to Valencia.

Kuban held Swansea to two one-all draws and that has put some pressure on Michael Laudrup’s side.

They have not really raised their game for the big matches at the Liberty stadium – they took a point off Liverpool but were beaten by Man Utd and Arsenal in the Premier League – and they look set to struggle against an experienced Valencia side.
