Southampton to see off travel-sick Hull with little fuss

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit sixth in the table and have already recorded three 2-0 home Premier League victories this season and a fourth looks on the cards at 11/2.

Pochettino’s side have built their fine start to the season on a solid defence and Arthur Boruc has only condeded one goal at home, and just three away from St Mary’s.

Bet on Southampton to win 2-0 at 11/2

Hull themselves have also enjoyed a great beginning to their bid to avoid relegation however their away record is much less impressive and four games on their travels have resulted in defeats.

Their record against teams in the top half is similarly poor (four losses from five games) and, with goal-threats Sone Aluko and Robbie Brady both on the sidelines, it’s hard to see them getting anything out of today’s game.

That pair have scored half of Hull’s eight league goals and the Tiger’s presence in attack looks toothless in their absence.

The Saints are not exactly goal crazy themselves, having scored just 11 goals in ten games, but Pablo Osvaldo should return from injury this afternoon and he can help bolster their threat going forward.

Bet on Southampton to win to nil at 5/4

Southampton are 8/15 to win the game, but a more tempting bet is the 5/4 about the home team winning to nil.

Southampton’s players, already on the crest of a wave, will have gained plenty of confidence by the England call-ups of club captain Adam Lallana and in-form striker Jay Rodriguez who join Rickie Lambert in Roy Hodgson’s squad.

Although the club’s foreign recruits have had a big impact, fellow English players James Ward-Prowse and defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Luke Shaw will also believe that they could earn senior caps.

Ward-Prowse has impressed in his five starts so far this season and with Guly Do Prado injured he looks set to feature again – the youngster is 7/1 to score at anytime in the match.
