Yorkshire punter on brink of £39k win after losing job
Mark Gallagher, from Yorkshire, is on the brink of winning £39,798 from a stake of just £1 on Coral’s ‘Football Jackpot’. The potential windfall couldn’t have come at a better time for the 38-year-old, who was laid-off from his job at a confectionary company on Friday.
Mr Gallagher has already correctly predicted the results of thirteen football matches and for the bet to land, he needs Partick to beat Hibernian tonight. However, if the result doesn’t go in his favour, he will still walk away with £6,633 if they draw, and £5,685 if they lose.
Mark Gallagher, who lives in Harrogate, said, “I always do the Coral Football Jackpot and usually spend a lot of time picking my selections, but this weekend I was in a hurry so did a lucky dip.”
Gallagher added, “This couldn’t have come at a better as I have just been laid-off and if the bet clicks, there’s lots of things I would like to spend the money on, but to start I’d love a holiday in the Caribbean”.
Nicola McGeady, Coral PR Manager, commented, “We couldn’t have picked a more deserving winner and everyone will have their fingers crossed for Mark tonight, but whatever the outcome, he will still walkaway with a nice consolation prize”.

*NOTES TO EDITORS
Coral customers can place their Football Jackpot bets via coupons available in Coral’s 1800 shops, or online at coral.co.uk or via Coral’s mobile app. The mechanics are simple: Each week the Football Jackpot coupon will contain 15 football matches and customers will be asked to predict either a home win, draw or away win for just a £1 stake. The first sole winner of Football Jackpot is guaranteed by Coral to win £1million, and there are also consolation prizes for customers who narrowly miss out. Customers who correctly predict 13 or 14 results will receive a consolation cash payment and depending on the size of the pool and the number of consolation winners even this could run into tens of thousands of pounds. Customers also have the flexibility of either choosing a lucky dip or making their own selections.
