England favourite to win Ashes Down Under

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Leading bookmaker Coral has installed England as the even money favourites to beat Australia in the Ashes following today’s squad announcement. The Aussies are the 13-8 underdogs following their 3-0 series loss earlier this summer, whilst the draw can be backed at 9-2.

Alistair Cook is 3-1 to be Top England Batsman, ahead of Kevin Pietersen at 7-2 but we have seen money for Ian Bell at 4-1 off the back of his impressive form this summer. Meanwhile, Jimmy Anderson is the 7-4 favourite to be Top England Bowler.

“England were well-backed to win this summer’s home series 5-0 and 4-0, so Australia performed better than many punters expected, but despite that, there remains a gulf in class between the two sides as far as we’re concerned, and Alistair Cook’s men travel Down Under as warm favourites,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.
