Laura Robson backed to cause US Open upset

| 29.08.2013
SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Britain’s Laura Robson has been backed to defy the odds when she faces fifth seed Li Na in the third-round of the US Open, following her triumph over Caroline Garcia. Coral bookmaker has installed Robson at 7-2 to beat Li Na, who is the odds-on 1-6 favourite to come out on top.

“Laura Robson appears to be fighting off her injury worries and the support we have seen for her proves that punters have every faith in the British number one. Robson beat Li Na in the third-round of the US Open last year, and she has been greatly supported to repeat that performance again”, commented Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

Meanwhile, it was business as usual for defending US Open champion Andy Murray who cruised past Michael Llodra in straight sets. The Scotsman is 10-3 to win the title for the second consecutive year, behind Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic who are available at 7-4 and 2-1 respectively. Murray is once again the heavy favourite at 1-100 to beat Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer in the second-round on Friday.
