Hannon’s Washaar can take Listed Stonehenge Stakes

SPORTSBOOK ODDS

Richard Hannon has got some smart two-year-olds in his care including recent Goodwood scorer Toormore. Washaar may not be regarded as a classic prospect but he is shaping up into a decent colt and there was a lot to like about his recent victory at Ascot.

After tracking the leader early on, Washaar strode head before half-way and readily held off Emirates Flyer by a length and a half. He looked well in command at the end of that seven-furlong contest and the extra furlong should be in his favour here.

On his previous start he had finished third to Good Old Boy Lukey and Somewhat in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket and the runner-up has since won impressively at Newbury. Snow Trouble could give the favourite most to do after he battled well on to win his maiden at Goodwood.

Clive Brittain’s Dancealot gained her reward for some consistent efforts when winning a nursery at Newmarket last time out. Lone Warrior is held by Washaar on Ascot form whilst Sir Mark Prescott’s Chinese Jade has more to do than when winning a 4-runner nursery last time.

Luca Cumani’s runners are always to be respected in handicaps and the three-year-old Don Padeja looks capable of defying a penalty in the 7.45 race. The Dansili colt won with a bit in hand at Leicester and a 6lb rise may not be sufficient to stop him.

Roger Charlton’s Tides Reach can benefit from the withdrawal of Nakuti to take the maiden race at 5.10. The filly stayed on well in a moderate affair at Ffos Las to finish second on her debut and any improvement would see her go close here.

Go For Broke was very tenderly handled on his debut when fourth at Windsor and can provide the local trainer with another success in the 5.45.

Selections: 4.30 Lutine Charlie, 5.10 Tides Reach, 5.45 Go For Broke, 6.15 Anglophile, 6.45 Washaar (NAP), 7.15 Duke of Perth, 7.45 Don Padeja (nb)
