Krypton Factor has the power for Hackwood Stakes
Bahrain-based trainer Fawzi Abdulla Nass has been aiming high with Krypton Factor this season and the five-year-old sprinter has been placed in all four starts. His most recent start came at Royal Ascot when third in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
In 2012 the gelding won the Group 1 Golden Shaheen at Meydan and he returned for another crack at the valuable prize this spring. He was beaten only three-quarters of a length into third behind Reynaldothewizard.
He was then given a break and prepared for the Royal meeting. Krypton Factor gave valiant chase but could never get to the trail blazing Lethal Force.
On official ratings, Krypton Factor is at least 8lbs superior to his rivals on Saturday and he will be partnered by Luke Morris in his bid for this Group 3 prize. His biggest rival could be Heeraat, trained by William Haggas.
He looked set to collect last weekend at York when travelling sweetly under Graham Lee inside the final furlong. However, he was just denied by the late thrust of Jwala. The son of Dark Angel has been running well all season and is closely matched with Hamza.
The two met at Beverley over five furlongs in May with Hamza emerging victorious by just over a length. Kevin Ryan’s gelding did not reappear until the July Cup where he weakened into eighth place after racing prominently.
Richard Hannon’s Ninjago represents the three-year-olds here and put up a decent effort when fourth to Heaven’s Guest and Moviesta last week. He did not get the clearest of runs that day and could possibly have been a little closer.
Bettolle has been running in Italy and won a Group 3 in April over this distance. It remains to be seen whether that form matches that of the main contenders here but the filly has been consistent.
Shamaal Nibras completes the field and comes into this race in good form after finishing third in the competitive Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. That was over seven furlongs which appears to be his idea trip so this may be a little on the sharp side.
