Joint favourites for Duel on the Downs as Ascot one-two renew rivalry

| 10.07.2013

Dawn Approach and Toronado are the 6-4 joint-favourites with Coral for the Qipco Sussex Stakes, following the latest entry stage for the Goodwood showpiece. The recent Coral-Eclipse runner-up Declaration Of War is next in the betting at 5-1, ahead of his stablemate Darwin, a 14-1 chance.

Elusive Kate is 16-1 for the Sussex Stakes, and 2-1 second favourite for Friday’s Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes, for which Sky Lantern is the evens favourite, while St Nicholas Abbey heads Coral’s betting for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at 9-4, ahead of Cirrus Des Aigles, the 5-2 second favourite.

“Dawn Approach has beaten Toronado twice this season, but his margin of superiority over his rival was just a short-head in their most recent encounter at Royal Ascot, and on that evidence, we are happy to let punters decide which colt should start favourite for what should be another cracking Duel on the Downs,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
