Jallota can score for Channon in Anglesey Stakes

| 19.07.2013

Jallota will be having his sixth start of the campaign when he lines up at the Curragh on Saturday but his most recent was his best to date. Sent off at odds of 20-1, the son of Rock of Gibraltar was beaten only a head and a neck by Anjaal and Figure of Speech in the Group 2 July Stakes.

He had previously finished fifth behind War Command in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and has by far the best form in the book. With the distance and going in his favour, he can claim this Group 3 prize.

Aidan O’Brien has an impressive record in this race with seven previous winners and he is doubly represented with Oklahoma City and Wilshire Boulevard. Joseph O’Brien has elected to ride Oklahoma City who strolled home by 13 lengths at Naas last time out.

The form may not amount to much and he was given a couple of reminders by O’Brien to stretch out in the final furlong. He looks to have more scope than his stable companion who could only finish in midfield at Royal Ascot.

That run was in the Windsor Castle Stakes won by Extortionist. He was never able to land a blow that day and the race looks to have been one of the weaker juvenile events of the Royal meeting this year.

Tommy Stack runs the filly Tarn who won on her debut over course and distance last month. She beat a pretty useful yardstick in Jim Bolger’s Intensified and is certainly in with a chance against the colts.

Bolger is represented here by Home School who won nicely at Roscommon whilst David Wachman saddles Mansion House. Patrick Prendergast’s maiden Dai Bando completes the seven runner line up with the race due off at 4.40.
