Published:As the most successful team in the history of the Champions League, Liverpool’s odds for Europe’s premier club competition are often worth a second look.
However Brendan Rodger’s side failed to qualify for the 2013/14 event due to only finishing in seventh place last season.
The Merseyside team got off to a bad start but improved under Rodgers towards the end of the campaign and they have taken that progress into the next season.

Other modern-day forwards who have captured the hearts of the passionate Anfield faithful include Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.
Owen was the club’s youngest goalscorer aged 17 in 1997, whilst Fowler scored a four minute hat-trick against Arsenal in 1994.

Both players represented England at international level, however the Scot Kenny Dalgleish has played a bigger part in Liverpool’s success.
He scored 172 goals for the club but he also guided them to six league titles, two FA Cups and four league cup wins as Liverpool’s manager.
Those wins came between 1985 and 1991 and were much more successful than his recent spell in charge of the club between 2011 and 2012.
