Punters Predict An Early Start For Royal Baby

| 09.05.2013

Coral bookmakers are betting on the time of day that the baby is born, with the majority of bets coming in favour of a morning birth at 5-6. The firm are quoting 5-2 that the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth in the afternoon and 7-2 that it’s an evening baby.

Some punters are even betting on the hour of the birth, and Coral have taken a flood of bets on the royal arrival being born between 8.am and 8.59am.

Meanwhile, the firm have re-opened the betting on the gender of the child after Prince Harry let slip that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will welcome a baby boy into the world. Coral are still favouring a girl at 1-3, but they have witnessed a number of bets on the couple having a boy at 5-2.

“This latest gamble proves just how much excitement the royal baby is causing amongst punters”, commented Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

“We had already suspended betting on the gender of the baby weeks ago after Kate hinted that she was having a daughter, but Harry’s revelation has left punters scratching their heads. It’s possible he was joking, but some punters are taking his comments seriously, betting on a boy and male names”, she added.
